It Feels Good

After spending some time reflecting on yesterdays frustration after my weigh in I realized it was kind of ridiculous. I still had a nice little loss, and most importantly I feel really good. I'm kind of a numbers guy, but I'm learning this new lifestyle is more about how I feel than just a number on a scale.

I have asthma and prior to my lifestyle change I had to use my rescue inhaler several times a day, even if I wasn't doing something that was very demanding physically. Now the only time I need to use it is when I'm doing something more physically demanding than a brisk walk.

Last fall I was diagnosed with having a couple of bulging disks in my neck and I was told by my doctor the next step would be to see a neurosurgeon. Since I have lost weight I have had almost no pain in my neck. The only exception was when I over did it a bit when I first started weight training a couple of weeks ago. But even that pain went away relatively quickly.

My family started camping a few years ago, and while I have always enjoyed it I can't wait to get started this year (if the Indiana weather ever stays nice for more than a day or two). I can't wait to do some of the hiking that I have passed on in previous years because I didn't think I could do it physically.

  1. I, too, am looking forward to fun activities that I couldn't do before because I was unfit.

Nice bonus with no neck pain. Go team WTF!
